Bye Bye Honda Crosstour

Written By Opeyemi Sobowale
Been If you’re like me then I’m sure you’ll be happy
to bid the Honda Crosstour farewell as Honda
finally closes the curtain on its crossover
Accord. For me its good news and not the
thought of a new model can placate me. I’m
not been a big ban of cars based on sedans like
the Toyota Venza, Toyota Matrix and the Honda
Crosstour no wonder they’ve all suffered similar
fate.
Introduced in 2010, the Crosstour built on the
Accord chassis was a recipe for failure from the
outset in my opinion. Just like the Venza, it
has two rows of seats and no four wheel drive
capability talk less of the odd look. Even
though it was built for the North American
market we see a lot of them in the Nigerian
market because the US car market is a huge
sourcing ground for the Nigerian car market
which has huge grey market operators.
Although John Mendel, executive vice president
of American Honda Motor Co. believes the
Crosstour has serves its purpose, “However, the
crossover segment has evolved and we believe
the all-new 2016 Honda HR-V launching later
this spring will create new value for crossover
shoppers and play a more significant role as a
gateway model for the Honda brand to drive
light truck sales growth.”
